As we all well know, our Benefits are ever changing. We will do our best to keep you, the Membership, informed as to these changes. For specific information regarding an issue you may have please call the Benefit office at 304-260-3928 to speak with Benefit Representative, Rick Walker, or Alternate Rodney Aikens.

There will be a series of articles in the next few months reflecting the changes to the National agreement between the UAW and GM. Please take the time to look over and read this information and pass it on to your spouse or partner.

UAW-GM Pre-Retirement Program
"Create Your Dream Retirement"

Once again through the efforts of your National Bargaining Committee we are able to offer this most informative program, which is open to all UAW-GM employees. It is designed so that you will benefit from the information given, regardless of your years left until retirement eligibility. The information is organized in 8 hours of informal participation on 4 areas of retirement planning that are presented by guest speakers, as in previous years the program will be facilitated by Susan Griffith and Rick Walker:

     1. Social Security
     2. Benefits
     3. Legal awareness and planning
     4. Financial Planning and management

The program Dates are as follows, times are 11:00 am – 1:00 pm for 2nd shift employees and 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm for 1st shift employees.

To enroll in this informative program contact either Susan Griffith (PDC 51 – 2nd shift), or Rick Walker at the Benefits Office, 304-269-3928 or enroll the first day of classes on February 19th. Classes will be held in the PDC 51, 2nd floor Main Conference room.

***Important Benefit Information***

The GM-AOL Program agreement, that provided the America Online Internet Service to GM employees for a discounted rate, is ending December 31, 2007 and the contract will not be extended.

GM employees who currently participate in the GM-AOL plan will have several options to choose from regarding their account before the December 31, 2007 program end date. While communications regarding those options are being finalized, the following is a list of alternatives that can be considered at this time. These options are only suggested alternatives:

      • ‘AOL Basic’ Plan- $9.95 per month (also know a `AOL Basic’). This dial-up AOL plan is offered to the general public and provides unlimited Internet access for $9.95 per month. Please contact AOL for program plan specifics.

      • ‘Free AOL’- This AOL plan is offered to the general public and offers users with alternative access(i.e. High-speed DSL or Cable), the opportunity to get AOL free. This plan allows participants to keep their AOL services (AOL e-mail address, Buddy Lists, etc.) for free, provided they already have alternative access to the Internet using another Internet Service Provider. Please contact AOL for program plan specifics.
