UAW
- GM CHILD CARE/ELDER CARE
RESOURCE AND REFERRAL SERVICE |
|
|
In
general, life is more complicated than ever before... on and
off the Plant floor. That is why the UAW and General Motors
have created several Work/Family Programs to help UAW-represented
GM employees better balance their work and family responsibilities
- and reach their full capabilities, both on and off the job. |
|
Juggling
work demands and family needs can be challenging, even
exhausting, especially for workers who are raising children
and trying to make informed decisions as parents. |
|
|
|
The
Child Care/Elder Care Resource and Referral Service is a joint
UAW-GM program to help employees balance work and family.
At GMSPO/Martinsburg, your Child Care Committee members are:
Susan Griffith, Mike Burke, Randy Brown, Kathy Haines, and
Liz McGowen. Liz, your on-site Child Care Consultant is available
to help UAW represented GM employees by providing child care
referrals, parenting resources and information.
Your On-Site Child Care Consultant works with parents to clarify child care needs, identify possible providers, and verify available spaces at licensed child centers and family child care homes. Working with the local joint child care committee, the On-Site Child Care Consultant helps to plan special events to support working parents and grandparents. Child Care consultants maintain a lending library of materials on child development, family issues, and other information on parenting and community resources.
